Releasing a preview of the song in the YouTube Shorts music library for content creators is a creative way to build excitement for the release of a new single, before it’s fully available on all social video and streaming platforms.
Using Labelcamp, it is possible to define the most relevant part of the track to be used as a YouTube Shorts Preview, by selecting a specific preview start and end times (similar to TikTok).
Once it’s delivered to YouTube, a preview art track video will be created and made available to content creators in the Shorts Music Library starting at the selected release date and time in Labelcamp.
The accompanying full-length art track won’t be live until the date and time filled in the distribution’s “offer” settings in Labelcamp.
According to YouTube specifications:
- Preview art tracks won’t appear in YouTube Music, on Official Artist Channels, or on Artist profiles. Preview art tracks may be discoverable by users in YouTube search results,
- The preview art track video and the full length art track video will embed the same sound recording asset,
- Once the full-length track is released, any Shorts using the preview is automatically redirected to the full-length track.
